Mile Sur Mera Tumhara
I was watching the old version rather the original version of Mile Sur Mera Tumahara and that inspired me to write this article about the comparison between the old and the new one.
What strikes me most is the fact that new Mile Sur Mera Tumhara is all about the film industry rather than about unity in diversity. Throughout the two parts all I could grasp were the various film stars whether of the Hindi film industry or Tamil or Malayalam.
A mere 10 seconds have been dedicated to sports personalities from a total of approximately 17 minutes long new Mile Sur Mera Tumhara.
In contrast to the new Mile Sur Mera Tumhara, the Original version had a significant coverage of common people as well. I agree it is not totally devoid of film stars, but they look like a part of the idea not the idea itself.
Are glamour and film stars the only thing India can boast about now?
What about the great singers of the country, the booming IT sector, the industrialists, the entrepreneurs, authors, reporters – media, police force, commandos, etc. Why is there no mention of such personalities in the new version?
I am not against showcasing the film industry in such a brilliant song as Mile Sur Mera Tumhara, but then artists such as the cinematographers, lyricists, editors, choreographers, set designers, technicians, the list is never ending.........; could have been featured. Why not have a shot of the National Defence Academy Cadets, the IIM, IIT students?
I leave you with this thought.
Please feel free to correct me, if wrong. Your additions as to who all should appear in the next version of Mile Sur Mera Tumhara, are most welcome.
